The DataCom Video Surveillance Solution, powered by IBM’s modular systems and storage and by DataCom’s advanced H.264 MPEG4 video capture technology and software provides unique advantages for your video surveillance requirements:
DataCom’s ION/NVS software allows you to record, playback, and manage any number of cameras in the DataCom Video Surveillance Solution. Cameras can be named and combined in groups for easy access and management. DataCom designed the ION interface after extensive consultation with video surveillance operators. The clean, simple, easy-to-use interface allows operators to concentrate on surveillance operations and avoid lost video so often caused by human errors in more complex software.
The DataCom Video Surveillance Solution provides the smallest footprint in the surveillance industry. DataCom can support 1024 cameras in a single 42U rack. Competing solutions need a minimum of one room, 15’x20’ to achieve the same camera density not including additional space for retention. A full DataCom Solution, with storage and matrix as shown here, typically fits in two racks, providing a 400% space reduction over a typical VCR or DVR installation.
Because the DataCom Video Surveillance Solution is based on data-center quality IBM hardware, many potential customers will qualify for IBM Global Financing. IBM Global Financing can often be used to finance your entire renovation project – not just the video surveillance portion. And with the easy, low rate terms available from IBM Global Financing, you can start realizing the reliability, quality, and affordability benefits of the Data Solution immediately.
At the heart of the DataCom Video Surveillance Solution is the IBM Blade Center. Unlike a stand-alone server that needs multiple power supplies and fans, individual systems management, numerous cables and a lot of space, the IBM BladeCenter is compact and simple. The blade contains all the necessary components to run an application––processors, memory, I/O and storage, with redundant power and hot-swap capability.
DataCom has found a market in replacing existing analog and digital solutions found to be unsatisfactory by Surveillance Managers. DataCom has installed its Enterprise Video Surveillance Solution in over a dozen Indian Casinos, including installations of over 2500 cameras. While the DataCom Solution has replaced an existing solution in all cases, the DataCom Solution has never been replaced by a competing solution. As stated by John Ervin of Border Town Casino, “In the end, the DataCom solution was clearly our best choice."
The Enterprise DataCom Surveillance Solution uses the IBM Blade Center to collapse the infrastructure needed for video surveillance. The Solution collapses 14 servers, 2 Ethernet Switches, and 2 FiberChannel switches into a single IBM Blade Center. This also results in an equivalent reduction in the the number of power supplies, fans, optical drives, and floppy drives resulting in considerable savings in power and cooling as well as floor space.
The IBM Blade Center employed in all DataCom Enterprise Video Surveillance Solutions provides redundant power supplies and blowers. The Blade Center includes Cisco and IBM Gigabit Ethernet switches, Brocade FiberChannel switches, and calibrated vectored cooling. More important, each IBM Blade Center includes a failover blade and DataCom’s unique Failover Management software to ensure that no video data is ever lost in the event of a blade server failure.
In the end the Datacom solution was clearly our best choice. It is an IBM server based solution and comes with IBMs outstanding customer support, It will easily grow with our needs and is extremely user friendly. It was also very budget friendly.
100% Customer Satisfaction - Throughout the process from purchasing and installation, to going live and never experiencing loss of video for years, customers rave about DataCom. Not a single customer has switched off of the DataCom platform in years of business...NEVER.
Quality - Video quality is unsurpassed and only dependent on the quality of the camera infrastructure and network. DataCom consistently outperforms even when video signals are not perfect.
Price, Value, Longevity - Initial cost is less because we use IBM industry standard products not proprietary solutions with a market limited to surveillance. Value because you can add cameras and infrastructure with no additional cost except adding hardware (no licenses). Longevity because this is a "enterprise solution" where IBM guarantees the forward and backward compatability of technology AND workhorse products that are supported for at least 10 years.
