Introducing ION™ Elements

DataCom Elements™ combines software modules to produce an integrated, Total Video Surveillance Solution.  The ION Elements™ C3 Carbon suite is at the center of the Solution software.  The Silicon (Si) Enterprise Server provides the foundation for the physical layer of network, cameras, and sensors.  The ION Elements™ Neon (Ne) Client is the primary interface for surveillance operators.  The Titanium (Ti) Management Server keeps the Solution operating with complete reliability using Predictive Failure Analysis and Automated Failover. The Phosphorus (P)  Point of Sale module is one example of the additional applications that extend the Solution applicability. These software Elements™ are designed to work separately or in combination to provide a flexible, integrated, and organic Solution for your Video Surveillance environment.

ION Elements™ C3 Carbon Suite

The C3 in the ION Elements C3 Carbon Software Suite stands for Command, Control, and Communications.  The C3 Carbon suite runs on one or more workstations in your surveillance command center and, in a “lite” version, on your Apple or Google mobile devices.  Carbon allows you to direct the activities of your surveillance staff (the Command function), monitor the actions of the staff (the Control function), and send and receive communications anywhere in your surveillance organization, even to authorized mobile users.

ION Elements™ Silicon Server

The Silicon server software is the continually-improved suite of DataCom’s Network Video Server (NVS) software.  This software runs on each of the DataCom Video Surveillance IBM Blade Servers in our enterprise solution or on the IBM SystemX servers in our mid-range solution.  The Silicon software tags and stores video and sensor data.  Silicon also processes retrieval commands for playback of stored data.  Since DataCom’s video compression is performed by our proprietary H.264 encoder board, Silicon uses only a small portion of the capability of the server.  This ensures reliable video capture, smooth simultaneous playback, and plenty of room for future expansion.

ION Elements™ Neon Client

Neon is the familiar DataCom ION™ client software.  Neon provides your surveillance operators and administrators with a interface to the DataCom surveillance solution that is clean, simple, and easy to use, while providing the options and flexibility to handle any surveillance requirement.  DataCom designed Neon in consultation with real surveillance managers and operators to be exactly what surveillance personnel need presented in a completely-tailored view that makes sense in their surveillance environment. Surveillance managers can assign tasks through C3 Carbon directly to surveillance operators at Neon client workstations, and can communicate to and from these operators. Neon operators with sufficient administrative privileges can toggle between the C3 Carbon and Neon environments at the same workstation.

ION Elements™ Titanium

T he strength of Titanium ensures that DataCom’s Enterprise Video Surveillance Solution is the most robust and reliable Video Surveillance Solution in the industry.  Titanium is proprietary DataCom software running on IBM’s Service Director Platform.  Using the Predictive Failure Analysis of IBM Director, Titanium manages the failover of any IBM BladeCenter to the reserve BladeCenter with no loss of video data.  Titanium is installed and configured entirely by your DataCom engineers to ensure seamless, transparent operation.

ION Elements™ Phosphorous

ION Elements™ is fully-extensible to allow other software modules to add increased functionality to the DataCom surveillance environment.  One popular example is the Phosphorous Point-of-Sale module.  Phosphorous likes the your cash intake environment to the video surveillance environment, allowing specified cash transactions to be monitored in real time and recorded for future playback.  For example, as a stop-loss measure, you may choose to have a video recording made every time the cash drawer is opened on one of your registers.  Phosphorous provides you with this capability and can be fully tailored to your needs.
